‘LUCEAT LUX VESTRA’ ‘Let Thy Light Shine – Memorable indeed was that day, 1st April 1941, when Rev. Mother Josephine, A.C. the Superior General lighted the lamp of knowledge in St.Teresa’s Anglo-Indian Training School Kannur. As the management had two High Schools for Anglo Indians, one is in Kannur and other at Calicut the need for a training School was keenly felt. The management could not find a more capable person than the late Sr. Gabrielle A.C. God lavishly blessed her with gifts of mind and heart. She believed like Gandhiji, that education is development of four ‘Hs’- Head, heart, hand and health. She has left us a rich legacy of intellectual cultural and aesthetic traditions that have permeated training school life.
Initially its aim was to provide Teachers’ Training to the Anglo-Indian girls but now we are proud to reveal that we have students belonging to different religion, caste and stratum of society, coming in from other states as well. During the past 75 years that light has spread through the length and breadth of India and even across the seas.
The devoted work of the Training School continues with its dedicated staff. On 1st April 2015 the LP section from the High School is bifurcated and amalgamated to T.T.I. The intake of the Training School is 40 and in the Lower Primary, we have two divisions each.
Inspired by the spirit of Mother Veronica to whom God was all – sufficient we aim at providing an education geared towards the total development of students by instilling in them Gospel values and forming responsible citizens, equipped to work for the transformation of society.
