The Old Age Home for mothers & Charitable Home for Girls who deserve love and care.
Thomas Chittilappilly Trust in June 2009 started its own Old Age Home at Parappur in Thrissur District, the native village of Kochouseph Chittilappilly. The home, named “Shanthimandiram” meaning home of peace, provides care and protection to needy and deserving elderly women, irrespective of cast and community. Shanthimandiram has the facility to accommodate 60 inmates at a time. In 2013 a home for deserving children from Standard V to XIIth also started with facility to accommodate 50 students at a time. Shanthimandiram is a recognized institution by the Board of Control for Orphanage & other Charitable Homes, Kerala. The care and protection to the inmates were being provided by the sisters of CMC Nirmala Province till March 31st 2015.
From April 1st 2015 we the Apostolic Carmel sisters of Southern Province started to take care of the inmates of Shanthimandiram. On July 11th 2015 Sri. Kochouseph Chittilappilly handed over the whole institution with all its original documents to the Superior General of Apostolic Carmel Sr. M.Susheela. A.C. his own sister. Thus the Apostolic Carmel community started to exist in Shanthimandiram Parappur, Thrissur. The facilities in Shanthimandiram are provided on free cost. The peaceful atmosphere of Shanthimandiram provides a lively environment in which inmates can have a blessed life with confidence and dignity. At present there are 25 women and 18 girls.
Srs. Noella, Joshma, Maria Beatressa and Maria Neethu are the members of the present community. They look after the inmates with love care and compassion. Regular health are with medicine, check-ups, treatment & counseling reduce their tension. Students are given regular individual care and tuition for their studies. Besides these we take active part in the Parish Church activities. We teach catechism, conduct family unit prayer, distribute Holy Communion and visit the families whenever possible.
