HOLY TRINITY CONVENT, OCHANTHURUTH – 1999

The dream of having a convent in a poor area was materialized when the Archbishop of Verapoly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Daniel Acharuparambil, invited us to open a convent in Valappu. The then parish priest of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Fr. Martin Pallath, informed the Bishop that a house belonging to Mr. V.J. Paul was available to start the convent. The house was very close to the parish and convenient for the sisters for spiritual needs and parish work.

As soon as the information regarding the availability of the land and house for the convent reached the Provincial Superior, Sr. Rosy Joseph, and her team, they went to meet the Bishop. It was decided to buy the plot with a house, even though the cost was very high. On the feast of the Most Holy Trinity, the convent was inaugurated by the Archbishop, Dr. Daniel Acharuparambil, on 27th April 1999.

The Bishop suggested starting a nursery class and tuition centre for the higher classes in the parish for the maintenance of the sisters. The nursery school conducted in the parish was not a success as the number of students was becoming less and had to be given up in 2001. However, after 6 months, the sisters visited the houses and 75 students turned up for admission to the nursery. Thus, on 3rd January 2002, the Carmel Nursery School was inaugurated in the convent building.

On 31st May 2003, the blessing of the new school building took place. Vicar General Fr. Sebastian Louis was the chief guest for the day. On 11th February 2009, the foundation stone was laid for the new High School building. On 27th May 2010, the new High School was inaugurated by the auxiliary bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Karikkassery.

A plot of land of an acre was purchased to secure affiliation from the ICSE board. The school was upgraded to Standard IX in 2013 after receiving provisional affiliation from the ICSE board. The first batch appeared for the ICSE board exam in 2015, and the school maintained a cent percent result till 2020. The sisters continue to toil towards the transformation of society through the apostolate of education and other activities in the parish.
