LITTLE FLOWER CONVENT, MANANTHAVADY – 2010
Journeying to Wayanad through its winding steps edged with huge trees and greenery so beautiful attracts anybody who is interested in nature. It was the dream of our sisters who lived in Mananthavady to have a separate house on Eclipse Hills.
Eclipse Hill was bought in 1930 with the help of Fr. Lambardini, the parish priest of Immaculate Conception Church, Mananthavady. The property was registered in the name of Sacred Heart Convent, Tellicherry. In 1932, Little Flower U.P. School was handed over to Apostolic Carmel by the parish, and the Holy Cross Convent started functioning. The Eclipse Hill was under Holy Cross Convent, and sisters were to go up and down to take care of the land.
It was the dream of the sisters to have a separate house on Eclipse Hills, and it came true on 24th May 2010. The main apostolate was to look after the children’s home besides having an unaided L.P. school. The sisters make use of the natural resources well, especially using the land for the cultivation of tapioca, yam, ginger, turmeric, pepper, and coffee.
