MARIA NILAYA, POSTULANCY, KOZHIKODE – 2002

Maria Nilaya, the candidates' house, was blessed and inaugurated on 3 July 1993, on the feast of St. Thomas. It was a homely little cottage at the rear end of the Providence Convent campus. The candidates who were accommodated at the Provincial house were shifted to Maria Nilaya, which was more convenient for their studies. Besides the candidates, two sisters form the community. Later, an extension was added to the house for better convenience, and the Blessed Sacrament was preserved in the chapel on 8th December 1997.

Maria Nilaya, the formation house for candidates, became the training center for postulates from 13th June 2002 onward. Maria Nilaya was renovated in 2013-2014. The construction was completed in 2014, and the house was blessed by Rev. Bishop Varghese Chakkalakal, Bishop of Calicut. Maria Nilaya has also been the venue for conducting vocation camps. In the year 2019, postulates were sent to Maryhill for common postulation. At present, candidates who are continuing their studies are accommodated in this house.
