The Thomas Chittilappilly Trust initiated an Old Age Home called “Shanthimandiram”, meaning “home of peace,” in June 2009 at Parappur, Thrissur District, the native village of Kochouseph Chittilappilly. Shanthimandiram offers care and protection to needy and deserving elderly women, with facilities to accommodate up to 60 inmates at a time. In 2013, an additional home was established for deserving children from Standard V to XII, with accommodations for 50 students. Shanthimandiram is recognized by the Board of Control for Orphanages & other Charitable Homes, Kerala. The care and protection of the residents were managed by the sisters of CMC Nirmala Province until March 31, 2015.

On July 11, 2015, Sri. Kochouseph Chittilappilly handed over the institution, along with its original documents, to the Superior General of Apostolic Carmel, Sr. M. Susheela A.C., and the Provincial Superior, Sr. M. Ancilla, his own sisters. The care of the residents at Shanthimandiram was officially assumed by the sisters of the Apostolic Carmel, Southern Province, on April 1, 2015. All facilities at Shanthimandiram are provided free of charge.

The sisters manage the home with love, care, and compassion. Regular health care, including medicine, check-ups, and treatments, is provided, along with timely counseling to help reduce stress among the residents. Additionally, the sisters actively participate in parish activities, teaching catechism, conducting family unit prayer, distributing Holy Communion, and visiting families whenever possible.
