About Carmel English Medium School: Carmel English Medium School is situated on Vypin Island, approximately 5 km from the city of Ernakulam in Kerala. It had a humble beginning in June 2002 as a nursery school near the convent. The school building for primary classes was completed and blessed on 31st May 2003. With increasing enrollment, there was a need to establish a High School. Land was acquired, and the foundation stone was laid on 11th February 2009. The High School building was inaugurated on 27th May 2010.

The students primarily come from the fisherfolk community and daily laborers, with 70% being Catholics. The school aims to make a difference through the dedicated work of the sisters and staff, with support from the local community. Four batches of Class X students have written the ICSE Board Examination, achieving a 100% success rate.

Affiliation: Carmel English Medium School is affiliated with the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), New Delhi, with affiliation number KE.136. It received its provisional affiliation on 13th May 2013.

Our Inspiration: We draw inspiration from Christ, who envisions the total development of every person, our Patroness, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and our Foundress, Venerable Mother Veronica of the Passion. Our education focuses on the comprehensive development of individuals, with a special emphasis on instilling Gospel values, aiming to form responsible citizens ready to serve in social, political, and cultural spheres with selflessness and zeal.

Academic Curriculum: Carmel English Medium School follows the ICSE syllabus, aligning with the New Education Policy 1986 (India) through the medium of English. National and regional languages are also given due importance.

Subjects Offered by ICSE Board:

• Group I - Compulsory Subjects: English, History & Civics, Geography, and an Indian Language.
• Group II - Elective Subjects: Mathematics, Science (Physics, Biology, and Chemistry), Computer Science, and Economics.
• Group III - Additional Subjects: Computer Applications and Economic Applications.
