FATIMAGIRI NURSERY SCHOOL, NILAMBUR (1971)

The people of Nilambur were determined to have a school in their locality. Responding to their heartfelt plea, the Apostolic Carmel Sisters opened a school for the people of Chandakkunnu, Nilambur, Malappuram District on June 1, 1971, starting with only six students. Within six months, the enrollment quickly rose to 40, including 28 boarders from neighboring estates. The school initially operated as a primary school for 27 years, with significant contributions from Sisters Agatha, Cyriaca, Bernard Mary, Ann Mary, Rose Mary, Lawrencetta, Teresa Ann, Vineetha, Christina, Amabilia, Bacilia, Purifica, Noella, Carmilla, Celine Kurien, Theodolinda, Cicily Scaria, and many others who worked tirelessly to develop Fatimagiri Nursery School.

After the school received affiliation from the CBSE board, the Kindergarten classes were separated from the High School. Sr. Purifica managed the Nursery school, while Sr. Amala was appointed as the Principal of the CBSE School. In 2000, the boarding facility was closed due to a lack of sufficient rooms.

In May 2016, with the arrival of the newly appointed superior, Sr. M. Jovita, and Principal, Sr. Maria Renita, the old Nursery School building, which was in a dilapidated condition, was taken down. The foundation stone for a new Nursery section was laid on June 16, 2016, by Rev. Fr. Paul Koottala, Vicar of Little Flower Church. The new building was inaugurated on April 28, 2017, by Sr. Ancilla, the Provincial Superior, and blessed by Rt. Rev. Dr. Varghese Chakkalakal, Bishop of Calicut. The Kindergarten section began operating in the new facility on June 1, 2017. On July 5, 2017, we also initiated a play school with the approval of the Provincial Superior and council.
