HOLY ANGELS ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL, DARMADAM (1954)

Holy Angels English Medium School began in 1954, alongside Sacred Heart G.H. School in Thalasserry. In 2001, the school was relocated to Dharmadam. I fondly remember the great and saintly nun, Venerable Mother Veronica—the foundress of the Apostolic Carmel—who recognized that the emancipation of women rested in their education. As a result, she ventured into establishing numerous centers of learning in the Malabar region of Kerala and the coastal regions of Dakshin Karnataka. Our school is proud to be one of these institutions.

Holy Angels continues to uphold the charism of its foundress by adhering to the educational mission of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation, which promotes the holistic development of individuals through value-based education. We advance this mission by fostering the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of our students through carefully planned curricular and co-curricular activities, as well as competitive and comprehensive examinations.

The physical setting of our school deserves special mention. The well-protected, serene surroundings, adorned with lush greenery, provide a healthy and conducive atmosphere that supports the holistic growth of our students. Our infrastructure has been significantly enhanced following the extension in 2015, which included the construction of a stage and a new building featuring a separate wing for pre-primary classes with attached toilets and wash areas, along with facilities for a library, music and dance classes, a prayer room, and a smart room.

Currently, we have 22 staff members and approximately 600 students. Our active and generous Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) plays a vital role in our school community. In May 2015, our school received recognition from the Government of Kerala and was subsequently classified as one of the aided and government schools of Kerala, allowing us to participate in all government-aided school activities.

Last year, our school achieved the highest points in sports, youth festivals, work experience, and the Maths and Science exhibition, showcasing our students’ talents and dedication. We are blessed with a devoted staff whose hard work aligns with the mission of the congregation. Each year brings many blessings and memorable events, adding to our school’s rich history by the grace of God.
