St. Antony’s Girl’s High School was established on July 2, 1938, as a result of repeated appeals from the public of Vatakara through His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Leo Preserpio S.J., Bishop of Calicut. It was started for the education of girls and is the first school for girls in Vatakara. The flourishing of this institution was a dream come true, enlightening innumerable hearts and minds with the message: “A girl child also has the right to education.” The public welcomed this institution with pride and joy, recognizing that as long as St. Antony’s Girl’s High School exists in Vatakara, girl children will never be deprived of education. This vision has proven truthful, making the venture a great success.

A glimpse into the history of this prestigious institution brings immense joy. Like a candle that illumines and guides us on the right path, the education imparted by a community of women has significantly illuminated the lives of countless girl children who have achieved greatness in various aspects of life.

The only school run by the district board for the education of girls in and around Vatakara until 1938 was taken over by the Apostolic Carmel Congregation on July 2, 1938. Since then, St. Antony’s Girl’s High School has reached numerous milestones, becoming a lighthouse in the heart of Vadakara town. Over the years, this prestigious institution has distinguished itself through meritorious service in education. Celebrating 75 years of past glory during its Platinum Jubilee has shaped the history of Vadakara since 1938. Thousands of students who have passed through this school shine like bright stars in various fields across the globe. The foresight of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation in adopting this school for women’s empowerment is truly an asset and investment for the nation. Starting with just 30 students, the school has grown to accommodate over 1,400 students as it approaches 78 fruitful years.

The primary focus has always been on the all-round development of future citizens, irrespective of caste and creed, with an emphasis on justice, truthfulness, and charity. To foster a sense of service and compassionate learning, our girls are trained to engage in social service activities.

St. Antony’s G.H.S consistently excels in both curricular and non-curricular fields. It has established itself as a center of academic excellence, achieving cent percent results in the SSLC examinations for many years, along with the highest number of A+ holders. We have produced National, State, and District champions in various sports events over the years, and this promising endeavor continues as we strive to add golden feathers to the history of this institution.

The strength of this institution lies in its well-organized Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), which provides wholehearted support for every developmental activity. Our institution was honored with the best PTA award in the Vadakara Educational District the year before last. The active functioning of various clubs, such as Jagratha Samithi, Eco Club, Vidyarangam Kalasahityavedi, Guides, and Red Cross, enables us to impart value-based, quality education to girls, upholding the vision and mission of Mother Veronica while enhancing the tradition, culture, and social status of Kadathanad.

Without putting a full stop to our innovative progress, we continue to strive for greater heights.
