ST. ANTONY’S J.B. SCHOOL, VADAKARA (1938)

The only school that had been run by the District Board for the education of girls in and around Vatakara until 1938 was taken over by the Apostolic Carmel Congregation on July 2, 1938, as a result of repeated appeals from the public of Vatakara through His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Leo Preserpio S.J., Bishop of Calicut. The deal was finalized on June 13, the feast day of St. Antony, and it was decided to place the new school under his patronage, naming it St. Antony’s School. It was inaugurated and blessed on July 4, 1938, by Rev. Fr. Zearo S.J., the Parish Priest, in the presence of a large crowd of people and children. The number admitted on the first day was 30 for classes I to VII, with Malayalam as the medium of instruction. Recognition was received from the Director of Public Instruction on June 5, 1939.

Our school has consistently ranked first in the Vatakara sub-district for kalolsavam, work experience, and science fairs. Many students participate in LSS and talent search exams, securing scholarships. Classes in dance, music, drawing, and computers are conducted for all students. Special days are celebrated with various programs, and innovative assembly programs are organized by the students. Together with the management and staff, parents have proven to be supporting pillars in the progress of the school.

The school promotes the spiritual, moral, and intellectual growth of the students, encouraging them to rise above the materialistic and consumerist world and to live a value-oriented life, thereby giving meaning to their existence.
